Your phone rings at 11:48 p.m. Somebody should answer it.

Bell & Main answers the calls your shop can’t get to, books the job on your calendar, and texts back anyone who hung up. You get the work. We handle the phone.

For HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing and garage door companies.

An example of a call Bell & Main takes for you. The name and details are made up.

A missed call on a no-heat night doesn’t leave a voicemail. It calls the next shop on Google.

People with water on the floor don’t wait for a callback. They go down the list until somebody picks up, and that company gets the job. Usually the next one, too.

When the phone rings and nobody gets it

  • 7:15 a.m.You’re driving to the first job.
  • 12:30 p.m.You’re in a crawlspace with both hands full.
  • 6:05 p.m.The office closed at five.
  • 2:10 a.m.You’re asleep. Like you should be.

One call, start to finish

Here’s what Bell & Main does with a call you can’t get to, from the first ring to the Monday report.

  1. The phone rings and you can’t get to itIt answers

Bell & Main picks up in your company’s name, any hour. It gets the caller’s name, address and what’s wrong, and tells them what happens next.

  2. They need someone outIt books the visit

It puts the job on your calendar in an open slot, inside the hours and service area you set. You get a text with the details.

  3. They hung up before anyone answeredIt texts them back

A text goes out right away so they don’t move on to the next number on the list.

  4. You sent a quote and heard nothingIt follows up

A few days later it checks in by text, so the quote doesn’t go cold while you’re busy.

  5. The job’s doneIt asks for a review

It asks the customer for a Google review while the work is still fresh in their mind.

  6. Monday morningYou get the report

A short email: calls answered, jobs booked, and anything that needs you.

How it works

Setup is done by us, not you. Most of your part is one phone call and reading a script.

  1. Intro call

30 minutes with one of us. Tell us how your phones work today, where calls slip through, and what a good booking looks like for your shop.

  2. We set it up

We write the call script around your services, hours, service area and how you handle emergencies. You read it and sign off. Then we run test calls together.

  3. Turn it on

You keep your number. Set your line to send unanswered and after-hours calls to Bell & Main, and it starts picking up.

For shops that take emergency calls

  • HVACThe AC quit and it’s 94 in the house.
  • PlumbingThe water heater’s leaking into the garage.
  • ElectricalHalf the house just lost power.
  • RoofingThe storm took shingles off and it’s coming in.
  • Garage doorThe spring snapped and my car’s stuck inside.

We work best with owner-run shops where the owner is still the one answering the phone at night.

Questions owners ask us

Does it sound like a robot?

It uses a natural-sounding voice and talks in full sentences. It isn’t a person, and some callers will be able to tell. We’re happy to play you a test call during your intro call.

What if a caller asks something it can’t answer?

It sticks to the information you approve. If it doesn’t know, it says so, takes the caller’s name, number and the problem, and sends that to you by text. It doesn’t quote prices or diagnose problems unless you tell us to set it up that way.

Are calls recorded?

Yes. Calls are recorded and transcribed so you can see exactly what was said and so we can check quality. Callers hear that the call is recorded at the start. Florida requires everyone on a call to agree to recording, so that notice stays in.

Do I need a new phone number or new software?

No. You keep your number. You set your line to forward unanswered or after-hours calls to us, and we do the rest of the setup. If you already use scheduling software, tell us what it is on the intro call and we’ll tell you honestly how it fits.

Does this replace my office staff?

No. It covers the calls nobody can get to: after hours, weekends, lunch, and the times everyone is already on the phone.

What does it cost?

We’re taking on a small number of pilot shops right now. Ask about the pilot on your intro call and we’ll walk you through it.
